Terms of Use

Last updated: 22 June 2026

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the website at urfael.com (the "Site") and the Urfael software (the "Software"), both provided by MYG Media SRL ("we", "us", "MYG Media"). By using the Site or the Software, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use them.

1. Who we are

The Site and the Software are provided by MYG Media SRL, a limited liability company (societate cu raspundere limitata) organized in Romania.

2. What Urfael is

Urfael is a personal, voice-capable AI that you run on your own machine. The Software is free and open-source. It runs locally on your device and processes your data there. We do not receive your prompts, your conversations, or your traffic, because there is nothing routed to us to receive. Your vault and memory are stored on your own machine.

The Site is a marketing and documentation website for the Software. Some optional features of the Site, such as a launch or newsletter email form, are described in our Privacy Policy.

3. The Software is free and open-source (MIT license)

The Software is licensed to you under the MIT License, not sold. Your rights to use, copy, modify, and distribute the Software are defined by that license. The full license text and the source code are available on GitHub:

If anything in these Terms conflicts with the MIT License as it applies to the Software itself, the MIT License controls for the Software. These Terms cover your use of the Site and add context that the MIT License does not address.

4. No warranty

The Software and the Site are provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE", without warranty of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement, and any warranty that the Software or Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of harmful components.

The Software is a personal tool that can act on your machine and call external model providers. You are responsible for reviewing what it does, for running it in an appropriate environment, and for the actions you allow it to take. The security documentation, including the Threat Model, describes both what the Software defends against and what it does not.

5. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, MYG Media and its contributors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, revenue, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, the Software or the Site, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, our total aggregate liability arising out of or related to the Software or the Site is limited to the amount you paid us for them, which for free and open-source software is zero.

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that the law does not permit us to exclude. If you are a consumer, these Terms do not affect your mandatory statutory rights.

6. Acceptable use

You may use the Software and the Site only for lawful purposes and in line with these Terms. You agree not to:

Because you run the Software on your own machine, you are responsible for how you configure and operate it, including any credentials, accounts, model providers, and integrations you connect to it.

7. Not affiliated with Anthropic

Urfael is an independent, open-source project. It is not built, endorsed, sponsored, or operated by Anthropic. "Claude" and "Claude Code" are trademarks of Anthropic, used here only to describe compatibility.

The Software can use Claude through a Claude subscription you already pay for. When you do that, your use of Claude is governed by Anthropic's own terms, including the Anthropic Consumer Terms of Service and Usage Policy for the subscription path, and by your agreement with Anthropic, none of which we control. If Anthropic changes its terms, pricing, or availability, that affects your relationship with Anthropic, not these Terms. You are responsible for complying with the terms of any model provider you choose to use.

8. Third-party services and providers

The Software can connect to model providers (for example Anthropic, or any of the other providers it supports through a documented proxy, or a local model on your own hardware) and to chat or integration channels you choose to enable. The Site relies on third-party providers such as our host and code host.

These third parties have their own terms and privacy practices. We are not responsible for third-party services, their content, or their availability, and your use of them is at your own risk and subject to their terms. Provider names and marks belong to their respective owners and indicate compatibility only.

9. Intellectual property

The Software's source code is provided under the MIT License as described above. The Urfael name and the Uruz mark (ᚢ) are an original character drawn from the public-domain Elder Futhark. Other content on the Site, such as text, design, and graphics, is owned by MYG Media or used with permission, except where the MIT License or third-party rights apply. You may not use our branding in a way that suggests endorsement or affiliation we have not given.

10. Changes to the Software and the Site

The Software is developed in the open and may change, gain features, lose features, or be discontinued at any time. We may also change, suspend, or discontinue the Site, in whole or in part, without notice. Because the Software is open-source and runs on your own machine, you can keep using and modifying any version you already have under the MIT License.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will take effect when posted here. Your continued use of the Site or the Software after a change means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree to a change, please stop using the Site and the Software.

12. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Romania and applicable European Union law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rules that may give you the right to bring proceedings in your country of residence, the courts of Romania will have jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms, the Site, or the Software.

If you are a consumer in the EU, nothing in this section deprives you of the protection of the mandatory provisions of the law of the country where you live.

13. Severability and entire agreement

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest remain in full effect, and the unenforceable provision will be applied to the maximum extent permitted by law. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of it. Together with the MIT License (for the Software) and our Privacy Policy, these Terms are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Site and the Software.

14. Contact

Questions about these Terms can be sent to contact@myg-media.com, or by post to Bld. George Enescu 23, G45/B/6, 720246 Suceava, Romania.
